EarTraX GPS/GSM/UHF solar powered eartags have been fitted to Amercian black bears cubs.  The bears were rescued from the wild following the ravaging wild fires in California in early 2018.  They were badly burned and were treated for those burns using some novel techniques - read about it here.

Following their recovery, the bears were released back into the wild in mid September.  The use of the EarTraX tags overcame the difficulty of collaring such a rapidly growing animal. The release was extensively covered in the media and on Facebook.
