University of New England FLiteTraX on Seagulls
For the last few years, GPS Collars has been working with Noah Perlut of the University of New England to develop and test the range of FliteTraX tags on Herring Gulls nesting on the rooftops in the harbour of Portland Maine. The tag on these birds is 56g in weight but 40g tags will soon be available. The tags are solar powered with indefinite life. Data is uploaded daily and GPS is collected from every 15 minutues to once per hour.
